In the middle of November last year I went on a date in Asakusa. It was the first time I went there, and it immediately became one of my favorite spots in Tokyo. Sure, I like the modern cities where there is bustling life and young people and always something cool going on! But I have always loved history, and sometimes it’s nice to go to the areas of Tokyo where it’s all about the city’s history.
Nippori – the Area Where I Live
Here are some photos from the area where I live! The photos were taken last fall.
Tokyo Sky Tree Aquarium
September 2, 2012. Tokyo Sky Tree. Didn’t watch the view though, but we kept to the shopping centre and the aquarium.
Wow, Time Has Passed Quickly
Yesterday, July 2nd, marked exactly 1 year since I came to Tokyo to study. 1 year! I can’t believe time has passed this quickly. Sometimes it feels like I have only lived here for a few months. The sad thing is I came here intending to blog regularly about my experiences in this amazing city – that hasn’t happened.
My Trip to Mt. Fuji and Fuji Q Highland
So I did go to many concerts last summer and beginning of fall, but I did other things as well! On of the things I did was going on a trip organized by my school, to Mt. Fuji and the amusement park Fuji Q Highland. It was a 3-day trip which included camping, cooking food together, and amazing hot-tubs!
Time Flies!
I tried to remember the last time I posted something on my blog, and realized it was a couple of months ago. Oops! And so much has happened during these months that I don’t really know where to start… I’ve seen Tackey & Tsubasa several more times, I’ve travelled some, met new people, experienced Tokyo – most things deserve their own blog posts, so I’ll get back to them later.
Hanabi, Matsuri and the Movies
Okay, most things about Japan are wonderful and exciting right now, but some of the best things now during summer has to be all the hanabis and matsuris! I’ve been to several already and just have to share!
Freezing!
When I went outside my door this morning I stopped dead – not because it was raining again, but because it was freezing outside! Okay, I guess it was about 20 degrees, but that is freezing for being Japan in the middle of summer! And I had just gotten used to 35 degrees… I’ve complained about the heat earlier, but I hope that I won’t have to experience more Swedish summer now, I want the Tokyo summer back…
Pub Night, Picnic and Karaoke
How time flies! And things are happening all the time! During the past I have studied a lot, had my first test at school, been to a pub night in Takadanobaba, been to a picnic in the Yoyogi park and been to karaoke for the first time! And all the while I’ve met a lot of new and very nice people!
I’ve Got A Cell Phone!
I’ve finally got a Japanese cell phone! The new freedom and possibility to be reached and to reach others outside of my dorm with my laptop makes it totally worth the two hours I spent getting the phone… Here’s some practical information about getting a cell phone in Japan!
